Overview
Udyam registration is the government's recognition of your business as a micro, small or medium enterprise. The certificate is the key that unlocks MSME benefits: priority-sector lending, protection against delayed payments under the MSMED Act, concessional government fees (including the 50% concession on trademark filing), and eligibility for various state and central subsidies and tenders.
The registration itself is a self-declaration on the Udyam portal linked to the entrepreneur's Aadhaar and the business PAN, with investment and turnover figures drawn from your ITR and GST data. ClearTLC prepares the application correctly the first time — classification (manufacturing or service), NIC codes for your activities, and the details that determine your micro/small/medium category — and delivers the certificate to your document vault.
There is no government fee on the Udyam portal, and the certificate has no expiry; it updates automatically from your filed returns. It is one of the fastest, highest-leverage registrations a new business can hold.

Frequently asked questions
Who qualifies as a micro, small or medium enterprise?
Classification is based on investment in plant/machinery/equipment and annual turnover, as amended from time to time. Most new businesses start in the micro category; the portal reclassifies you automatically as your filed figures grow.
Does Udyam registration expire?
No. The certificate is permanent and self-updating — the portal refreshes your classification from your ITR and GST filings each year.
Can a proprietorship or freelancer register?
Yes. Proprietorships, partnerships, LLPs, companies and even service freelancers can register, using the owner's Aadhaar and the business (or personal) PAN.
What is the trademark fee benefit for Udyam holders?
Trademark applications filed with a valid Udyam certificate attract the concessional government fee of ₹4,500 per class instead of ₹9,000 — the certificate pays for itself on your first trademark filing.
Is there any government fee?
No — the Udyam portal charges nothing. The price shown is our professional fee plus 18% GST on that fee.
GST & invoicing: Invoiced under SAC 998216 (other legal services) with 18% GST on the professional fee.
