For small operators with annual turnover under ₹12 lakh, the basic registration on the FoSCoS portal is the applicable licence; it produces the 14-digit registration number that must appear on your labels, packaging and platform listings.

Do home bakers and cloud kitchens need FSSAI registration?
Yes — any food business, including home-based and online-only operations, must hold at least the basic registration before selling. Delivery platforms ask for the number at onboarding.
Basic registration, State licence or Central licence — which applies to me?
Broadly by turnover: basic registration under ₹12 lakh, State licence from ₹12 lakh to ₹20 crore, Central licence above that or for specific operations (imports, large manufacturing). We confirm the right one during scoping.
How long is the registration valid?
